Leśniczówka u Zieby Restaurant

Welcome to Leśniczówka u Zięby, an iconic destination in the Chochołowska Valley.
Since 1991, we've been captivating visitors with our exceptional cuisine

Our breakfasts, offering a variety of delectable options to suit every taste, are loved by both children and adults alike. Indulge in a morning buffet in the forester’s room with breathtaking views of Giewont mountain and the Czerwone Wierchy massif.

Each morning, a local bakery delivers fresh bread and we bake sweet rolls just before breakfast. Local farms provide the cheeses and cold cuts, while fresh fruits, vegetables, and homemade spreads and jams are always available. For those craving something warm, our cook Alona makes a variety of egg dishes and oatmeal with pumpkin seeds and cranberries – choose your favourites or try them all!

Indulge in a delightful lunch or dinner at our restaurant after a walk, mountain expedition, or a relaxing time in the garden or by the stream. Our menu showcases simple, regional cuisine, highlighting local products. Savour white, oscypek, and bundz cheeses made by our neighbour with milk straight from the cow. During summer and autumn, we locally source chanterelles and other mushrooms, lingonberries, and blueberries. Our lamb is reared in nearby Ciche and the trout is freshly caught in Zakopane.

Our simple menu is a tribute to Grandma’s traditional home cooking. Her diet, like that of most Highlanders was based on a few ingredients such as potatoes, cabbage in various forms, sweet and sour milk, fermented sheep butter milk, cheeses, mushrooms, and berries. Meat was reserved for special occasions. Remarkably, Grandma lived to be 101 years old :). Since 1991, we’ve been serving dishes such as “rzepa” with sour milk and herbs, pancakes with chanterelle sauce, sauerkraut soup, and traditional whey, a favourite many visitors return for with their own jars to take home in. Relish the flavours of heritage at “Leśniczówka”!
